Combining Acupuncture and Chiropractic to Relieve Headaches

When the familiar pounding begins at the base of your skull and starts its journey up into your head, what is the first thing you do? Run to the medicine cabinet and pop some pills to dull the ache, most likely. What should you really be doing? Getting in touch with a chiropractor to take a look into what the cause of these headaches could be.

Chiropractic care combined with Acupuncture could be the answer for you. Seeing a chiropractor for headaches is a medication-free option. Your doctor will be mainly concerned with assisting to correct neuromusculoskeletal sources of your headaches.

Acupuncture is another treatment method that can be used in conjunction with chiropractic care to help alleviate the symptoms of your headaches. When treating headaches.

Acupuncture can not only heal headaches but prevent them by activating the parasympathetic nervous system while also decreasing muscle tension.
While each patient is different, some may begin to feel relief after simply one treatment, others may feel a slow decline in their symptoms after multiple treatments. It is important to keep in mind how long you have been suffering from headaches and what your triggers are. If headaches have been a life-long struggle for you, expecting results after one treatment might be too optimistic.
Be sure to tell your chiropractor how long you have been suffering and what your triggers are. That will allow the doctor to determine the type and duration of treatment.

TRY PEPPERMINT OIL0282575001572190148.jpg

Peppermint oil is one of the most commonly used essential oils to treat headaches or migraines. It contains menthol, which can help muscles relax and ease pain. It's suggested that applying diluted peppermint oil directly to the temples can help relieve pain from both tension headaches and migraines.

Some of the best evidence for mint is a 1996 German government-funded study that looked at 164 tension headaches in 41 patients. Peppermint oil applied to the forehead and temples at the beginning of the headache was as effective as 1,000 milligrams of acetaminophen, the same dose as two extra-strength Tylenol, and more effective than a placebo oil that contained only trace amounts of peppermint.
