Acupuncture To Treat Menopausal Syndrome?

Menopausal Syndrome is the normal process of the cessation of menstruation in women. This commonly occurs between 45 to 55 years of age. With age, the ovaries will decrease their production of estrogen and progesterone. These are two hormones that are used to maintain normal bodily function. The drop in production causes symptoms that vary from person to person. The most common symptoms include; hot flashes, increased sweating, anxiety, depression, skin dryness, insomnia, irritability, and bone loss.

A common treatment of this syndrome includes the use of synthetic hormones to attempt to bring the body back to balance to reduce symptoms. This therapy is recommended by the Mayo Clinic for a short duration as opposed to long term use due to side effects such as the increased risk of heart disease, breast cancer, stroke, dementia, and blood clots.

At Edmistone Acupuncture and Chiropractic, we offer a non-drug solution to menopausal syndrome. The therapy we provide has shown its clinically proven results in the treatment of hot flashes, night sweats, disturbed sleep as well as emotional disorders. The therapy helps adjust the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal cortex axis, harmonize internal organs and rebuild homeostasis of balance. The treatment, therefore, eventually helps bring back the normal balance of female sex hormones, i.e., an increase of estrogen level with a lowering of the high FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). The treatment includes, but not limited to, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition, and diet.
